T-Mobile is putting out a new technology and identifying it as 4G.  However, the rest of the industry (especially Sprint) is saying it’s not 4G.  Do you think it is?  What do you think “4G” means to most consumers?  Does the use of terms such as “4G” and “HD” affect your buying, such that they need more formal definitions?

So far, the industry has affixed the “4G” label to systems using WiMAX technology, currently being used by Clearwire (NASDAQ: CLWR)/Sprint Nextel (NYSE: S) in more than 60 U.S. markets — including Denver — and Long-Term Evolution (LTE) technology, which will fuel coming services by Verizon Wireless and AT&T Inc. and already is being used by MetroPCS in a handful of markets.
